This film chronicles the life and times of Punjabi scholar Pritam Singh to delineate how knowledge production, as a critical and intellectual exercise, is undertaken in the language. Apart from his reputation of being a celebrated teacher, Singh had a passion for collecting and interpreting old manuscripts. Ami places Pritam Singh’s story in the post-partition political climate of the state and traces the transformations in the language through the career of one of its finest instructors and practitioners.
