The Only Story
Uma is adopted, and for as long as she can remember, she has questioned her own adoption. This is her personal story, in which she confronts the typically Norwegian way of thinking about adoption. Now the time has come to reclaim the narrative. This is Uma’s story to tell, and hers alone. The accepted, “respectable,” happy adoption story is collapsing. Uma Feed is a trained actress and an interdisciplinary performing artist, director, and active public commentator. Her latest op-ed became part of the anthology “Norsk nok – tekster om identitet og tilhørighet” (“Norwegian enough – texts on identity and belonging”). In her artistic work, she is concerned with existential questions, identity, and the power to define. Through her art, she therefore explores these themes from an autobiographical perspective.
